  3. Animal Collective Set To Curate, Headline 2011 All Tomorrow's Parties

    10/29/2010
    1. Just as band member Avey Tare releases his debut album, the popular psychedelic rock band Animal Collective have been announced as the curators of next summer's All Tomorrow's Parties Event, which will take place in Butlins, Minehead, UK on May 13-15.

    2. All Tomorrow's Parties chooses a different band or individual to curate each of their festivals (Godspeed You! Black Emperor will be overseeing the December event later this year). Animal Collective have already announced a line up that includes many similar and line-minded bands - Black Dice, Gang Gang Dance, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Prince Rama and Dent May - as well as influences such as the Meat Puppets and Lee "Scratch" Perry. Rounding out the show are a choice handful of electronic acts including Zomby, Omar-S and Spectrum. In addition, Animal Collective themselves will headline the show.

    3. Considering Animal Collective's ultra-abstract approach to live performance - songs are generally improvised upon beyond any level of recognizability - as well as the presence of psychedelic heavyweights like Perry, Black Dice and Zomby, it sounds like the makings of a memorable show.

    4. Check out videos by festival artists Black Dice and Zomby below:
