The Rane Sixty Eight, set to arrive April 2010, is a high end entry into the world of mixers showcasing the extent to which software and hardware can now be integrated into a powerful music performance device. It's biggest claim to fame is that it is the first DJ mixer with two high speed USB 2.0 ports, allowing for real-time connection of two computers at once. This capability means two DJs could use Scratch Live software at once and seamlessly transition back and forth. Rane's device offers support for 2, 3 or 4 Virtual Decks on one or two computers.

As if that wasn't enough, the Sixty Eight is loaded with other state-of-the-art features, including its own built-in digital effects processed directly by the device itself. It also offers direct control of over 30 Scratch Live functions.
-
At a list price of $3,299, the Sixty Eight is hardly geared at the amateur user, but for serious DJs who insist on owning the latest technology, it would appear that Rane has upped the ante yet again.
-
Rane's Unique FlexFx bus allows DJs to create a sub-mix of up to six audio channels and six internal digital effects, and then execute flawless on-beat switching between effects. The Sixty Eight also includes flexible USB recording options, which allows DJs to record from any output.
