Sasha's career as a DJ began back in the late 80s, where he was a influential part of the early rave scene. Like many others such as Laurent Garnier, he got his first taste of house music and electronic dance culture at the legendary Hacienda club in Manchester back in 1988. Sasha became interested in DJing, but nearly went broke buying records and couldn't afford proper DJ equipment, saying of his first gig, "I'd never even touched a Technics: I thought the pitch control was the volume, I didn't even know where to plug my headphones in! I'm sure I was absolutely horrendous."
Spinning early techno, house and acid, however, he quickly built up a reputation as a DJ, along with innovators such as Garnier and Jon DaSilva. In 1990, DJ Sasha left The Hacienda for Shelley's Laserdrome, where he would begin to move towards his trademark style of euphoric trance music. In 1993, he teamed up with a DJ who shared his musical vision, John Digweed. Sasha and John Digweed beame well known for producing a series of highly successful mix dance CDs - the Northern Exposure mix series - as well as touring across the world.
Quickly becoming stars within the electronic music club scene, Sasha and Digweed helped popularize trance and progressive house music. By the turn of the decade, Sasha had risen to the top of the industry, delivering dance remixes for pop artists such as Madonna.

In 2007, he created a new sublabel, emFire, as part of Renaissance Records to release his techno and trance music productions.
Despite his artist efforts however, Sasha remains best known for his DJing - with epic live sets that have earned him the only half-joking nickname "the son of God." Unlike other producers, Sasha hasn't been afraid to leap into the world of digital mixing, merging DJing and live performance in his live sets. In 2010, he remains one of the few names who can repeatedly pull huge crowds across the world to see his DJ sets.
