Rustie

One of a new breed of Glasgow artists, Rustie burst onto the scene in 2007 with his Jagz The Smack EP. Introducing a new sound that was fresh and vital, the new generation of Glasgow artists mixed dubstep, IDM and hip hop influences in equal amount. Labels like Lucky Me and Wireblock sprung up offering an eclectic series of EPs.

Alongside releases by artists like Hudson Mohawke, Rustie's early work was representative of the new Glasgow sound.

Additional single "Zig-Zag" moved into more melodic, Detroit-influenced territory. Later, on the "Sunburst" EP, this was replaced with a much more upbeat, lo-fi sound. Still yet to release his debut album, Rustie has already evolved his sound into a number of interesting directions.
