While techno producers like Basic Channel morphed the sounds characteristic of dub into the framework of techno in their earliest works, Disrupt performs the opposite trick, producing dub that has a heavy modern electronic influence. With Foundation Bit, his groundbreaking debut, Disrupt had made a release that could have sat alongside King Tubby and other dub pioneers from the 70s, but which was infused with the bleeps and digital noise of present day London.

There was a retro element to his work as well that recalled early video game music, which tied his work to that being released on the aptly-named Jahtari label. In 2009, Disrupt continued his run with a handful of excellent singles, marking him as one of the rising producers in what may be a new genre of music altogether.
