Bizzy B

  1. Sometimes the work of an individual artist captures a musical time and place so well its hard to separate them from it - or the scene itself from their work. Bizzy B's sound captures the early days of drum n bass - his unique style of chopping up beats in a hyperactive, ADD-inducing style. While many of the tracks of the era have a throwaway quality, Bizzy B's have stood the test of time.

  2. While many of the tracks of the early rave and drum n bass scene have a throwaway quality, Bizzy B's music still sounds fresh over a decade later.
  3. Moreso than other artists at the time, Bizzy B's experiments in breakbeat acrobatics, such as the twisted sampling pyrotechnics of "Slow Jam" or hoover synths of "Twisted Mentasm," acted as the precursors of the more radical sliced and diced percussive approaches of UK artists such as Mike Paradinas, Squarepusher and Aphex Twin.

  4. It was Paradinas' Planet Mu label, in fact, that reintroduced Bizzy B to the world with the "Retrospective" collection last year, collecting the best of his works on one disc.
