Aril Brikha was born in Iran but emigrated to Sweden at a young age. Growing up in the 80s, Brinkha developed a strong interest in electronic music – including new wave and industrial artists such as Depeche Mode, Front 242 and Jean Michel Jarre.
Eventually Brikha bought an Atari and began using it to compose his own music. Upon hearing his tracks, friends told him it sounded like Detroit techno. Brikha had no idea what that was - and so they played him records by Robert Hood and Berlin's Basic Channel.
Brinkha's first huge break came when he caught the attention of Derrick May and scored a release on legendary Detroit label Fragile Recordings.
After some early releases on Swedish labels, Derrick May's Transmat Records contacted Brikha and released his "Art Of Vengeance" EP on its sister label, Fragile.
A year later, in 1999, Brinkha followed it up with the debut album "Deeparture In Time," regarded as one of the best examples of second-generation "Detroit" influenced techno. The LP was recorded with just one keyboard, a drum machine and an Atari.
