Alan Braxe

Alan Braxe (born Alain Quême) is one of the key producers in the "French touch" house scene. His artist name is a variation of Brax, a region in France where he used to live. He is the cousin of fellow house artist DJ Falcon.

From the beginning, Braxe worked closely with other French musicians, including Daft Punk. His first single, "Vertigo," was released on Thomas Bangalter's Roulé label in 1997. Braxe also teamed up with Bangalter on a one-off production as Stardust, producing the huge hit "Music Sounds Better With You."

Alan Braxe was an integral part of the early French house scene, working closely with artists like Thomas Bangalter and his cousin DJ Falcon.

It was with his later singles, though, that Braxe would form his own distinct sound, a reworking of the new wave sounds of 80s groups into a house music framework.

Singles like "Rubicon" potently mined this vein of music, which was mirrored by the activities of artists like Jacques Le Cont in the UK and later, French producers like Kris Menace, who Braxe teamed up with to record the well-known house tune "Discopolis." He later formed Vulture Music in order to release this style of French house.
