Aeroplane, the Belgium-based project of Stephen Fasano and Vito De Luca, is now a one-man operation, Vito having parted ways with Fasano. Aeroplane had been residents at the well-known Make Up Club in Ghent, where they played a mixture of "old and nu disco, psyche pop, classic house & Balearic."
The duo really gained notoriety for their remixes, fusing everything from alt rock to house tunes with a retro-tinged disco and pop music influence.
Aeroplane completed over 50 remixes for artists like Lindstrom, Cut Copy and David Rubato. So with their earlier focus on the dancefloor, the band's debut album came as a surprise. Instead of mix-ready house tracks, De Luca delivered full-fledged songs that often discarded the dance music influences entirely. Harking back to a mid 80s era of MOR rock, it through many of the band's traditional fans for a loop but kept others wondering what this inventive production outfit would turn out next.
