The Tresor label was instrumental to the growth of techno during the 90s. But equally important was the club itself - located in an unrenovated vault underneath a bombed out department store. Tresor quickly became a second home for American techno artists such as Jeff Mills and Juan Atkins.
SubBerlin is a documentary about Tresor, directed by Tilmann Künzel and originally released in 2008. It will now be released on DVD for the first time, along with a CD companion. The film traces Tresor's history from its beginning in the early '90s to the closure of its original location in 2005. It includes interviews from many of the artists involved with the club, from Juan Atkins to Sven Vath.
